Miri - Brunei Trip (back date to 8-10 Aug 2013) Part 4

It was the third day of Hari Raya for Malaysia but the second day of Hari Raya for Brunei, so it was the first day of the palace opening to invite the public to celebrate Hari Raya together. The palace used to open to the public for 3 days and the most crowded days were the first and third day. But before going to the palace for brunch. We had our breakfast at this Chinese-owned Mamak Coffee shop. I just remember that this shop is located near a highway! After turning out from the highway (landmark, KFC), turn to the left and go to the last row of shops. Then turn right and you will see this shop on the right hand side.. Haha.. But I can't really remember what highway it is.

Just knew from Susan that she used to learn Bahasa Jawi when she was studying in Brunei. That was why she knows how to read the Jawi wordings on the signboard

Mamak making break...

Famous roti kahwin kacang!

 Entrance ticket

Spot on the Chocolate Chip cookies!

At least we have visited one mosque throughout our entire trip! The uniqueness of this mosque was that the top part of this mosque was made out of gold!

Brunch second time, Jolibee. Only available in Brunei. Fast food restaurant but selling fast food like KFC, only fried chicken with rice...

Last meal before leaving Brunei

Right after the numerous brunch, we started our journey and went back to KK straight. But at least we dropped by at Sipitang for satay since many people recommended..

Ok, all this came to an end so fast. I wish the holiday would  be dragged for a long time... +)

Enjoy and have a nice day Thank you for reading this blog ya.. =)

Miri - Brunei Trip (back date to 8-10 Aug 2013) Part 3

The journey from Miri to Brunei was about 1-2 hours. The road was fine, nice highway with no pot-holes like those in Malaysia. But on the way, we had dropped by at one of the most grand hotel resort in Brunei which is the Empire Hotel. It was actually about 15 minutes drive from the city center, Bandar. From the picture below, you can see how grand is the interior design of the hotel.

The front lobby's decoration in-conjunction with Hari Raya festival, the hotel was crowded with tourists! If I have the money, this place would be my option!! =)

Interior design of the hotel with giant pillars.. Too bad that I missed out the escalator which is also gold in colour

The back part of the hotel resort..

A relaxing place to walk to after passing the man-made beach on the right.. This is just the other end of the hotel resort which is facing the South China Sea

The car park with car display in front of the hotel

After visiting the grand hotel, it was time to check into the hotel. To stay in Brunei wasn't cheap. After the currency conversion from MY Ringgit to Brunei Dollar, the place where we stayed, Abdul Razak Hotel Apartment costed us about RM 70 per person with a complementary breakfast at the cafe. Gym facilities and swimming pool were included but it was not within the hotel. Exterior part of the hotel looked horrible but interiorly looked good. So don't judge a book by it cover =p As everyone said that it was a must to have cheap sushi in Brunei, so really big thanks to Susan <3 anyway="" because="" bringing="" choice="" closed="" dinner="" excapade="" for="" had="" mcd="" no="" other="" p="" to="" too="" us="" was="" we="">

 Grilled Unagi

The Sashimi Boat

The total damage done was about RM 46 per person! Yea..!  Rating for the food was 5/5! Good choice of place for Japanese food and this was the most memorable meal of the trip.. =)

Next day for Hari Raya... To be continued...

Miri - Brunei Trip (back date to 8-10 Aug 2013) Part 2

After food hunting on the first day was not really successful, really hope that the second day would be better. Woke up early just for the breakfast! But it didn't turn out to be really good. Everything looked good, fantastic but they still lack of some taste. Perhaps my taste bud was a bit weird that time. Anyway, at least we have tried Miri famous food.

2020 Cafe, hidden in some housing area

Some of the dimsum were ordered, not really bad but still lacking of something.. And the price was cheap! Worth to have a try...

Clockwise (from left-hand corner): Claypot noodles, beef noodles, dry noodles and laksa. The best was still the beef noodles. Tasted something like those Korean instant noodles but this was freshly cooked, laksa tasted flat!

Largest shopping mall in Miri, Bintang Plaza @ Bintang Megamall, just passed by!

Just too bad that our first mission of the day failed but luckily the taiwanese shop right beside the hotel was great! Ranging from fresh soya milk to crispy puffs and you tiao with salad! Yummy, too hard to describe!

Clockwise (from left-hand corner): Kolo noodles (famous in Sarawak), pancakes with egg, ding bian hu (some kind of flour noodles with taiwanese cooking style) and normal pancakes. GOOD!!!

He was just baking the crispy puff! Fresh...

Time for some walk-about around Miri town! It's a very small town, not congested with people. People around were friendly. Saw buses moving around, so I guess the bus transportation should be ok.

Ok, my boss was a bit resist to the taste of the herbal medicine. Too bitter! But at least he managed to finish the whole bowl by himself

Oya, almost left this out! Park Enterprise was the place where we spent a night. The hotel rate wasn't that expensive and the environment was so clean! Just that the fridge was a bit old, almost non-functional

The one and only group picture at Canada Hill from Miri. The highest point in Miri, Sarawak

Grand Old Lady, just side by side with the Petroleum Museum

Beautiful and nice place to hang out, Petroleum Museum. And it was closed, make sure to check their opening hours...

 Day view from Canada Hill

B'day for Keat Yee and fare well for Kar Loon

Lunch! Last meal before leaving Miri for Brunei

Okie, we left Miri at noon and we managed to reach Brunei in the evening!

Enjoy and have a nice day... To be continued...
